During my final year of A Level Photography, I had to produce a final piece inspired by a photographer of my choice. The theme of my project was on the three traditional elements of nature: Earth, Water, and Fire. For my final piece, I chose to take inspiration from the macro photographer Mo Devlin and create a 3D installation focused on ice and the fragility of nature. After generating ideas with a mind map, I decided that I wanted to construct a mobile of hanging icicles using macro photos I had taken of dyed ice. My aim for this piece was to make an eye-catching, dynamic construction using geometric shapes and a spiral formation to highlight the structure in ice. However, the hanging translucent paper material also represents that delicate beauty in ice.
