This was my entry for the Mochikkun Draw This In Your Style Challenge in 2020, the first DTIYS challenge I ever took part in. Mochikkun’s original drawing was bright and happy with background of clear skies. For my interpretation, I decided to create a darker version of the illustration. So, I digitally painted stormy skies and had the hanging lanterns blowing in the wind across the canvas. I sketched out some different compositions but went for the one of the girl facing the viewer as this suited my skill level at the time. As I have grown as an illustrator, I have learnt how to draw more poses.
