In 2019, I visited Kigbeare Studios & Gallery in Devon to meet a variety of artists and learn how they work. I met the contemporary impressionistic oil painter Sophie Berger, the watercolourist Karen Thomas, as well as artists working in other mediums such as soap-making and pottery. In this photo, I am in the contemporary painter and printmaker, Heidi Koenig’s studio. Heidi offered to give me a lesson on monotyping, where I made a couple of prints that I could take home (see below). I enjoyed experimenting with different ways of mark-making and using colour.
