This is a piece I drew digitally in 2021 to illustrate my complicated feelings at the time. For me, the illustration is about infatuation and longing. The blue thread represented my emotions and attachment. However, they tangle up to form a rain cloud above me. I wanted to use a bright and cheerful pastel colour palette to convey the childlike hope and excitement we can sometimes experience from a crush. But the symbols of the raindrops remind me that tears can be shed when you are tied up by your feelings, especially if those feelings end up unrequited.
Originally, I had two large blue hearts drawn either side of the arm, but my art teacher suggested I take them out so that the message of the illustration can be more subjective. I did this because I think the subtler hearts in the threads do enough to communicate the message on love and emotion
