Moët & Chandon White Star Alphonse Mucha Study (2022)

During a lesson with my art tutor, we decided to take inspiration from the 19th century illustrator, Alphonse Mucha. Mucha would take commissions from different brands and we used one of his promotional posters to study his style of drawing human anatomy. This was a poster for Moët & Chandon White Star champagne. I like Mucha’s illustrations because of his Art Nouveau inspired style, his use of warm muted colours, and most importantly his style of line art. This was a sketch I did in my lesson using Mucha’s poster as a reference to capture the soft flowing pose of his character. His style is very useful as a reference for practicing anatomy because of his clear line art illustrating the soft curves of the human body.
