Skulls Drawing Practice (2022)

In the past, I was afraid to draw parts of the human body in detail such as bones and muscles. I found the idea a bit overwhelming when I was starting out, so I focused more on breaking those structural forms into simpler shapes and using that as the foundation for my figures. This is a sketchbook page where I went out of my comfort zone at the time and did some studies on photos of skulls I had found online. It was a very rewarding experience as I realised how much character different skulls have. Although they have the key features that make a skull, components like the jaw and bridge of the nose have a lot of variety. Something that I love about drawing is that it opens your eyes to things like this and helps you appreciate details you otherwise wouldn’t have noticed.
