This is an observational painting I did of a jar of mayonnaise at one of my watercolour classes. My main focus for this illustration was colour. I made sure to observe the colours in the object in front of me and take the time to mix and swatch my paints until it was an accurate match. The most difficult part to paint was the mayonnaise itself as I wanted to get a creamy beige for the shadows without it looking too yellow. I copied the shadow in front of me on the table into the illustration, but then changed the background to a simple plain orange. I chose this because I wanted to have the contrast of the complementary colours blue and orange.
